The aim of working with various artisans and craftsmen and depicting their work in-front of the society has been the driving force to establish this studio. The forte being handloom, hand embroidery, various kinds of prints and handicrafts, blending traditional Indian artwork with contemporary concepts. The rich heritage and traditional knowledge that is reflected from our works delight the individuals. We work to protect the environment; not only through materialist approach but also by sustaining the balance between work and force. We strive to be true to our pledge to conserve our history and nature as an ethical and trustworthy brand.

Tana Poren

Hand Weaving, the largest cottage industry in India, is the practice of creating cloth, done on handlooms namely pit or frame looms generally located in weavers’ homes. The weaving has a structure of the warp and weft where the threads are inter-crossed giving it a tight and definite structure. Bahasa strives in the working closely with the weavers, encouraging them to create various kinds of innovative designs which appeals to the market.

Sui Dhaga

Hand embroidery, in India has originated in the pre-historic times to depict the art and culture of the local lifestyles. They are primarily done by the rural population of the country and that remains the simplest yet the most creative of all styles of embellishment yet today. Bahasa offers a wide range of Kantha stitch of Bengal, Gujrati stitch from the Kutch and many more.

Rangrez

Colouring of fabric through dyeing and printing has been a age old process for the beautification of fabrics. ‘Batik’ the wax resist process of dyeing is an ancient art form for creating designs on fabric. Originated in Indonesia, Batik slowly became a major art form in the rural households of India. Tie & Dye, mostly named as ‘Bandhni’ on the other hand has its roots deep down embedded in the soils of Rajasthan & Gujrat of the country. Here in this process, the dye can be repeated over and over to create complex multi-coloured designs. In the process of printing Bahasa stands out for its block, screen & also digital printed products.  All creations are hand-made and distinctive from one another.

Upasadhan

Accessories compliment and complete the look of the outfit. It is meant to enhance the show of the wearer. Bahasa caters to a varied range of jewellery and bags which are principally handmade and recycled.

Sahayak

Artisans are the key support system of the flourishing craft works of the country. They are the skilled workers who depicts the designs that are shaped by the designer through their own hands. Collaborating with the communities in rural India, preserving their rich ethnicity and traditions of art, we, in Bahasa try to empower them and also inspire their art and artistic expressions to survive. This not only help such communities find self- sustenance but also helps in economic & social growth.
